Additionally many definitions of Northeastern/Mid-Atlantic states include DC, Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware but the US Census classifies these areas as being the South Atlantic Region a member of the Southern United States.

∙ 11y agoWashington, D.C. is located in neither region. However, it is part of the BosWash corridor (Boston to Washington) which includes the cities of Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and the District itself. D.C. is closest to the Northeast region compared to the Northwest.
