It depends because there are drawbacks to both operating systems. I use both Mac and Windows, so I know about them both. Macs are naturally resilient to viruses, has a very graphical user interface, and although expensive, it will last longer and DOES NOT REQUIRE A WHOLE IT CREW FOR MAINTENANCE. However, YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING FUN ON A MAC, unless you're playing blizzard games. Windows starts out cheap, and you don't have to hire an IT crew if you don't go to places like malicious porn sites. But you still will have to spend time and money looking for good anti-virus software. So if you plan do only do school stuff, do it on a Mac! If you wanna game or do something else fun, do it on Windows!
Windows is an Operating System software made by Microsoft. It is software, Microsoft does not make computers.
Laptop and desktop company's make the computers but buy a licensing contract with Microsoft to install their Windows OS onto them.
You have to do your homework and look at the different computer company's to see if they make quality computers.
Apple Computer make their own computers and make their own Operating System, MacOS X is their software OS. They do not license out their OS to other computer makers.
If you are not gaming them my suggestion is use Ubuntu or Mint. Or use windows 10.
DO NOT GET MACINTOSH! windows XP IS VERY GOOD. DO NOT GET WINDOWS VISTA. ALSO DO NOT GET WINDOWS 7. OH AND FINALLY WINDOWS IS COMING UP WITH WINDOWS 8. ALSO DO NOT GET THAT.

Some good used Windows laptop can be found online at the Amazon website and the E-bay website. Both website contain a lot of used Windows laptop for sale.
Belkin is a good laptop provider.Guarantee products are available there.
A windows 7 is good. so is HP, Compaq, and Toshiba.
I recommend a Dell laptop. I would say either a vostro or a inspiron. I would recommend inspiron though not too expensive, speedy, looks good, and has good speifications and is also a home laptop. You can also get it with Windows 7 on it too.
Install windows 8 on your new laptop. Simple!
You should go with a Windows laptop if you enjoy gaming. If you do not, then go with a Mac because it is much more easier to use. You should always check your needs and customize your laptop from company's websites.
I personally use windows and well, haven't had the best experiences with it, but that was my desktop. I hear that windows laptops are better. Well good luck with whatever you choose.
The most likely reason is that your laptop does not meet the system requirements for Windows XP.
