Some will say, "yes," while others will disagree. The fact is that pre-seventies Mopars, Fords, and GM's are all comparable on one level or another, and it is largely a matter of preference.

Personally, I am more of a Ford guy, but my first car was a '67 Fury III. I loved that car. I love my '97 Explorer almost as much. Both have taken punishment and keep (kept) going. I still love old Mopars. Pound for pound they can hold their own against anything Ford or Chevy ever built.

The question though, is far too open ended to offer any meaningful answer. While "1969 Doge Charger" is very specific, there really are not very many left around. The old TV series The Dukes of Hazard ate up a lot of them (Chargers, Super Bees, and Road Runners). That, and, the fact that no year Mustang is mentioned. Perhaps the question contributor meant to ask regard the 1969 Charger as well as the 1969 Mustang.

The Dodge was available in two models - Charger 500 and Charger Daytona (very rare, only 503 were built)
Available with:
  • 426 hEMI 7.0 L V8
  • 440 Magnum 7.2 L V8
The Ford was available in three models - Mach I, Boss 302, and Boss 429
Available with:
  • 351 Windsor V8 with a 2-barrel carburetor
  • 351 Windsor V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor
  • 390 FE V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor
  • 428 Non-Ramair Cobra Jet & Super Cobra Jet V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor

Additionally, Carrol Shelby International customized over fifteen-hundred 1969 Mustangs to produce a variety of Ford Mustang Shelby GT Cobra platforms. The Mopars were more of a "come as you are" car. No shame in that, they were and still are beautiful machines, and direct competition with Ford's muscle car offerings.
