Yes, a 2 ton floor jack should be plenty...as you will only be lifting one end of the car at a time, not the whole car at once. If you do not know where to put the jack to lift the car, talk to someone who does. (Framerails are usually safe, other spots may not be.)
BUT, you need more than just the jack in most cases...you should also get yourself a set of "jack stands". These are adjustable height stands that are used in pairs, one under each side of the car, to hold it up once you have raised the car with the jack. That way if your jack sinks down or someone or something accidently hits it, the car will still be held in the air. THIS IS A BASIC SAFETY STEP THAT SHOULD NEVER BE SKIPPED. NEVER GO UNDER A CAR THAT IS HELD IN THE AIR BY ONLY THE JACK!
When looking for jack stands, look for heavy duty ones that are made of solid metal with a geared shaft that holds the height you want. Stay away from the older light duty ones that are basically a vertical tube with height adjusted by inserting pins through matching holes. I do not think the light duty ones are sold anymore, but avoid using them whatever. If you have some, THROW them away, do not resell them. In fact I'd take them apart and throw them away in different garbage cans so the unknowing do not take them and reuse them.
Why? 20 years ago I was working under an old '74 mercedes, held in the air by two of the lighter type jackstands. One of them failed and the car suddenly fell with no warning. I was on my side under the car, and when it fell it squeezed my shoulders, partly pinning me to the ground. It was a "life passing before my eyes" moment. Had both jackstands failed I would not be writing this now. I immediately went out and purchased the heavy duty type jack stands and threw the light ones away. BE SAFE, ALWAYS USE JACKSTANDS!

You need to place the floor jack under the actual beam of the car frame. This is where 2 jacks may have to be put into play. You will need to jack up the car high enough to be able to release the old shocks from their bases. You may have to put a jack on blocks to jack the car high enough to achieve this. Put your stands on very stable blocks under the frame as well.
