the bet gun to deer hunt with is a 30-06 or a 308
I believe that a .270 caliber, .308, .30-30, and .243 caliber rifles are great calibers to hunt deer with. I think that a .30-06 is just a bit overkill, but sometimes i will use that. i use eather a .270 or a .308 most of the time when i hunt white tail deer
308 comes from Indiana
Personally I'd use a .308 Winchester, but it really depends on what you're hunting. If it's just deer or anything smaller, this will be perfectly fine.

Whether you need a 5.56 or a 308 depends what you intend to shoot. A .308 is intended for larger game like deer and elk.
My son is 15 and when he was 14 he shot his fathers 308, and did ok with it, actually he killed a deer! So my 14 year did
Yes, it is legal to hunt with the FN FAL. The FAL is chambered for the 7.62x51mm/.308 Winchester cartridge. This is in fact one of the most popular big game hunting cartridges in the world. Its large bore means that a well placed shot is unlikely to cause suffering for the prey.
308 is better it is a higher caliber and shoots farther unless you want a cheap gun 308s are more expensive making you want to choose a sucky brand 308 which makes the 270 better.
First, check the game laws of YOUR state- they vary from state to state on what is a LEGAL weapon. I live in Virginia- and .223 and 22-250 are too small HERE. My personal view is that .243 and larger caliber are suitable for deer. 30-30, 7mm-08, 308, and 30-06 are the classic deer cartridges. There are others that also work well.
