For purely ornamental, temporary fences, the vinyl might provide enough structural integrity to support the rails. Look at it from a worst-case scenario. Some kid is going to climb that fence and break it down. By putting a 4 x 4 in each one, you will have a very sturdy, low maintenance fence. Be sure to use only treated lumber and set the posts in concrete at least for the corner posts. If you have occasional high winds, you will probably want to set all of the posts in concrete. After the posts are set, slide the vinyl over them and secure them with 1-1/2 inch flat washers on 1 inch panhead screws (stainless steel hardware is best) an inch or two above ground level so any water can drain from the vinyl sleeves. If water can't drain, the sleeves will certainly split if the water freezes and the posts will swell from becoming waterlogged.
56 posts are needed for the fence
Installing a Vinyl Fence post on top of a cement patio, slab or retaining wall doesn't have to be a challenging task. You will want to purchase and install a Vinyl Post Mount. Establish where you want the post to be installed and mark the locations where you will drill Four 3/8" Holes into the cement. You will then put the post mount in place and then install Four cement lag type fasteners to securely fasten the post mount to the cement surface. If necessary you can use Stainless Steel washers to shim the base flange of the post mount to keep it level or plumb. Yes! The Z Post is the best fence post I have ever used! It is a metal fence post for wood fences. Its is powder coated like wrought iron. It is a gret post. HIGHLY Recommend!
It depends on what kind of fence you wish to put up. For example, an electrified barbed wire and steel post fence would only require about three posts. But a wood plank and wood post fence would require about five or six.
