Yes, it is extremely good. In theory, it's impossible to get a 6.0 at most schools, because you can't take all AP or advanced classes. Even an A-honor roll student in as many advanced classes as possible only gets anywhere from 5.1-5.7 GPA, though the upper range is almost unheard of. However, some schools are on different scales. In some schools, 5.0 is the best possible GPA, or even 4.0. Though I've never heard of a school that's on a 7.0 grading system (Which would make a 6.0 a fairly good GPA), there might be one.

There are no GPA requirements for admission to Binghamton University, however, here is the GPA information from their website... The middle 50% of admitted students have GPAs between 91-96 un-weighted. That means half of their accepted applicants have a 91-96. 25% have below a 91, and 25% have above a 96. In short, 75% of applicants have a 91 and above.

You can't really raise a GPA. But it is a very good improvement! A 3.4 GPA is a B average while a 1.5 GPA is at a D average (Ouch!). Good job on your improvement, (if you did) or if that is just your goal, I wish you the best of luck on your journey to a 3.4 GPA!
