a bb or airsoft gun is never dangerous until it is used. then it is determined to be dangerous or not depending on the person! An average 12 year old will probably be encouraged by his/her friends to get one but if he understands that they can be dangerous if used incorrectly and that it is a big responsibility then im sure he will be fine. If you are a parent it is natural to be nervous about agreeing but a small pistol wont be too bad as long as s/he realises not to be silly.
Airsoft guns are much safer as they are designed for open combat! BB Guns are NOT! However, when purchasing one u WILLbe told if it is a BBGun. Many guns come under the name of a BB Gun when in actual fact it is an airsoft
but overall a regular spring functioning pistol is quick simple, fun and safe for a 12 year old, especially with safety locks and trigger locks.
Please note: DO NOT GET THEM ONE IF THEY ARE ASKING FOR A GAS GUN! GAS OR C02 GUNS ARE MUCH, MUCH MORE POWERFUL AND IF SHOT AT WITHOUT PROPER GUARDING WILL CERTAINLY RESULT IN A LARGE HOSPITAL BILL! DONT GET GAS GUNS EVEN IF THEYRE UST PISTOLS!
