I have a butternut bush in my back yard which is in central Florida. It blooms in both cold and hot weather and attracts butterflies. The plant sends up shoots which are not invasive because they easily be pulled up - not like weeds. In fact, I save a shoot or or two before the winter in case the winter frost kills off my bush and replant it in spring. These large yellow flowered bushes are beautiful and easily maintained. I have a 3rd generation plant growing now. ( At least, this is what I was told was a buttercup plant.)
