Any movement of a card from another zone to the graveyard, is a send. 'Tribute', 'Discard' and 'Destroy' are specific kinds of send. XYZ material is 'sent to the graveyard' if the XYZ monster that overlays them is destroyed, removed from play, returned to the Extra Deck, etc.
One exception is cards that have been removed from the game. They can be 'returned' to the graveyard, but not 'sent' from there.
Sometimes, and no.
There are effects that do target a monster and send it to the graveyard, there are effects that do not target a monster, but do send it to the graveyard. Simply sending it to the graveyard in no way determines whether it was targeted or not, you'd have to look at the effect in question.
Dark End Dragon targets a monster, for example, and sends it to the graveyard. It is targeted but not destroyed.
Many effects, as well as Synchro and Ritual Summons require monsters to be sent to the graveyard as a cost. These are not targeted, nor are they destroyed.
A card is 'destroyed' when a card effect specifically says it is, or when they battle against a stronger monster. Even though when you 'destroy' something, you are also sending the card to the graveyard, the opposite is not true. A card that is 'only' sent to the graveyard, was not destroyed, like with Dark End Dragon's targets above.
Yes. Tributed card are considered to be 'sent to the graveyard' for the purposes of any card that looks for that, such as Sangan.
Yes, if you don't use its effect, because Dimensional Fissure does not automatically send any cards on the field to the graveyard, it just removes them from play when the are sent there. But if you use the effect of Miracle Jurassic Egg, then it is removed from play instead of being sent to the graveyard when you release it by its effect. Also, if it is sent to the graveyard by battle or by another card effect, or by being released for a tribute summon (also known by the newer term "advanced summon"), then it is still removed from play instead of going to the graveyard... Sincerely, James
Slifer, and the other Egyptain God cards, require three monsters for a Tribute Summon. (They can be Special Summoned as well, but are sent to the Graveyard at the end of the turn.)
Yes. Its only requirement is that it is sent to the graveyard. It doesn't have to be sent to the graveyard 'from the field' which is something that won't trigger if sent as XYZ material.
A card that is destroyed is 'sent to the graveyard', but sometimes a card instructs you to 'just' send a card to the graveyard, and this is not destruction.
Yes, Dandylion will trigger even if sent to the graveyard while face-down.
You would miss the timing to activate the card as the monster sent to the Graveyard must be last thing to happen. During a Tribute Summon, the monsters are sent to the Graveyard, but the last thing to happen is no monster being Tribute Summoned.
If you have a deck that needs monsters sent to the graveyard like a lightsworn deck, then you might win.
No, you do not 'tribute' the Synchro Material for a Synchro Summon. They are sent to the graveyard, not tributed. You can tribute an opponents synchro monster for "Assault Mode Activate!" to summon the assault mode monster from your deck.
You can set the monster you tributed for, but the tributed monster is sent to the graveyard
No... a level 4 monster can be summoned without a tribute monster, but a level 5 and 6 needs 1 tribute monster and level 7 and so on needs 2 tribute monsters.

"The Rock Spirit" can only be Special Summoned from the Graveyard, if it was Special Summoned from the Hand via its effect first. In other words, if it was "improperly" sent to the Graveyard, such as by discarding from the Hand, it cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard. If it was successfully Special Summoned by its own effect onto the field and is then sent to the Graveyard, it is then elligible to be Special Summoned from the same Graveyard. However, if it's Special Summon was negated by a card effect such as "Solemn Judgment" and sent to the Graveyard, it cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard.
A card misses the timing when it is an Optional Trigger (they say 'you can') and something is summoned or resolves in between the trigger condition being met, and the first opportunity to activate it. Peten the Dark Clown has an Optional Trigger that lets it summon another when it is sent to the graveyard. However this sending must be the last thing to happen, or you miss the timing and can't activate the effect. So, if you tribute it for a tribute summon, it misses the timing due to the summon. If you send it to the graveyard as a cost, then it misses the timing due to the resolution of that effect. If it is sent to the graveyard at chain link 2, then it misses the timing due to chain link 1, etc. It needs to be sent at chain link 1, or destroyed by battle.

No. The effect of any monster face-up on the field is negated once sent to the graveyard, unless the card itself states that the effect still works while in the graveyard
