How do you change a clutch?

The exact way that this is done is notnecessarily the same on all vehicles or motors. However it involves the The removal of the tail shaft, the removal of the gearbox, then the removal of the pressure plate that holds the clutch plate in place from the fly wheel. (the big disc on the back of the motor). When the pressure plate is gone the clutch plate will come out. When replacing the clutch plate it has to be put back in place centred up so that the drive shaft goes through and fits into the centre of the fly wheel. I always used an old drive shaft to hold everything in place while bolting the pressure plate back on. After that just do everything in reverse.

Replacement of Clutch on 87 Toyota 4WD Pickup?

Easiest thing for me is to remove the transmission first. Then you can get to the pressure plate and the clutch. Its a simple matter of a few bolts coming off. Remove the plate and then install a new clutch and pressure plate. I would highly suggest you replace the alignment bearing and the throw out bearing at the same time. An alignment tool comes with most new kits for the plate. Us this to line up the splines into the clutch plate and bearing.

Is clutch and brake fluid the same thing?

Yes, there is no such thing as clutch fluid. It's all brake fluid.

How to detemine when to replace clutch plate?

Get car up to about 15 miles an hour in fourth gear. Dip the clutch untile slip occurs. Then build revs and release clutch at the same time. If revs continue to build then the clutch plate friction lininhs are worn and it is time for a new clutch.

What is the clutch's purpose in a car?

The clutch, for all intents and purposes, is a method of disengaging the powertrain(engine) from the wheels. When the clutch is engaged the power from the engine is transferred through the clutch to the wheels, so the wheels turn at the same speed as the engine (Note! This assumption is only correct when there is no gearbox or any similar equipment in the system). When you put your foot on the clutch pedal it disengages the the engine from the wheels, so that the car will freewheel like when you stop pedaling on a bicycle. Most clutches usually are friction plate clutches. A spring forces the plates together normally so that the plate on the input side of the clutch and at the output side are touching. The friction of the plate surfaces cause the two to spin together as if they were one piece. When the clutch is disengaged the two plates are forced apart. The engine side plate spins as usual but the "wheel side" slows down and eventually comes to a stop.

Will a 1985 cr 125 Honda clutch cover fit 1986 cr125?

No, the 86 has 7 clutch plate and the 85 has 6 so the 85 clutch cover is not deep enough. I had the same issue

How much is it to replace clutch on 2001 Mondeo Ghia X?

Is clutch and shift the same thing?

No. Clutch is what disengages the motor from the transmission. Shift would be changing gears. You should depress the clutch to shift from one gear to another.

How the clutch works in 2 wheelers?

A clutch is that part of engine which engages or disengages power from the engine crankshaft to transmission. A clutch is mechanism by which you change the gears. In simple words, it turns on or off power to rear wheel. A clutch is made of clutch assembly which includes clutch plate, Clutch basket, Clutch hub, pressure plates, Clutch springs, lever and clutch cable.Clutch Basket: It is bowl shaped basket which holds entire clutch assembly. It has teethes on the outside surfaces which fix on the primary drive teethes. It means that it is connected with the transmission. It is bolted onto the end of clutch shaft.Clutch Hub: The clutch hub places between clutch basket and pressure plate. The clutch plates are mounted on it. It has teethes in the centre hole which rotate with main shaft. It means it is connected with the engine.Clutch Plate: There are two types of plates in clutch plate. One is Drive (friction) plate another is Driven (Steel) plateDrive (friction) plate: The friction plate is ring shaped and coated with fiber. It is a wear and tear part of clutch assembly. The friction plate surfaces interface between the clutch basket tangs (gaps) and pressure plate. It has teethes on the outside surfaces. These teethes fix on the cutouts between clutch hub tangs (gaps). It is coated with the same material as you see in brake pad (shoe).Driven (steel) plate: It is ring shaped and made of steel and sometime of aluminum. The surfaces of steel or aluminum plate interfaces between pressure plate and clutch hub. It has teethes on inside surfaces. This teethes are fix on the cutouts of clutch hub. Mostly steel plates are used in clutch assembly due to their durability. The aluminum plates are used in Moto GP due to their lighter weight. These plates are worn out very fast compare to steel plate.Pressure Plate: It is the moving part of the clutch assembly which works against clutch spring tension. It releases the clamping action on the clutch plates when the clutch lever is engaged.Clutch springs: The clutch springs shape is like short coil. These springs continuously hold the friction and steel or aluminum plates through spring tension. It also prevents slippage except when the clutch lever is engaged. Most of motorcycle has five or more springs used per clutch assembly. For higher engine output stiffer or more springs are used while softer or few springs used in order to lighter clutch level pulling effort.Lever: It is metal rode which pivots on a perch located of the left handlebar. It gives input to clutch assembly.Clutch Cable: The clutch cable is a cable through which the rider's input passes to the clutch internals.Clutch Cover: It covers the entire clutch assembly

Are all all-wheel-drive systems the same?

No. There are computer controlled systems, systems that use a slip clutch,

How To line The clutch up?

You can buy an alignment tool that centers the clutch disc. If you buy a complete clutch kit with the clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing there should be a plastic one with it. If just changing the disc, get it in place and start all the bolts holding the pressure plate on. Tighten them till the pressure plate just touches the clutch disc. The disc should be the same diameter as the pressure plate or just slightly smaller. Feel around the edge of the pressure plate till you have it centered. Tighten the bolts holding the pressure plate and finish putting the transmission in. This is usually close enough to allow the transmission to bolt up. Even with an alignment tool, you should do this because the tool doesn't hold the clutch disc exactly centered.

How do you plates tectonics and the theory of plate tectonics?
