A router and a modem are two separate things. There are a few different modem/router combo's, but typically you will need both items.

The fact is there are two types. first type is a modem with built in router, second is router itself. this will clear your mind. you don't have to buy a router to go online, just a get modem with router built in

Why my wireless connection says limited access?
The modem and wireless router are out of sync with each other (DHCP CLIENT) isn't connecting. This is a simple fix. Unplug the power to both devices, plug the modem back in first, and plug the router back in AFTER the modem is fully booted back up.
