Is b drive is the hard disk drive or not?

A long time ago...... The first disk the computer was programmed to access was the Floppy Drive a 5 1/4 or a 3 1/2 single platter floppy disk. This historically was the first boot since the operating system was needed. This was before Hard disks and way before CDROM or DVDROM. Since the first disk to be accessed was given the label A and was the floppy drive the Hard Disk was given the label B.

What is B drive in computer system?

Normally the second removable drive, A = first removable or floppy drive, if a second floppy drive is installed it is drive B. First hard disk is Drive C, second Hard disk is Drive D, etc. You can also map the drive letters to the virtual network connections, so that Drive P could be used as a network connection.

When saving a disk save to drive a or c?

In Windows, Drive C: is the first hard drive. On the PC compatibles (DOS then Windows, which was a program running under DOS), drive A: was reserved for the first floppy disk drive and B: for the second floppy disk drive. Drive C: was reserved for the first hard drive. Many computers don't even have floppy drives anymore, but the first hard drive is still labeled C:

Why computer has not B drive?

The A: and B: drives on a desktop computer are reserved in the BIOS for floppy disk drives. As most computers only come with one floppy disk drive only the A: drive will be visible in file explorer. If a second floppy disk drive is fitted then both A: and B: drives will be visible. Computers used to have a B: drive. It was the second floppy drive. Since people no longer copy from one floppy to another, the B: drive (and on some newer models the A: drive) has become obsolete.

What are the computer drives a b c and d?

"A" and "B" are typically diskette drives. Many modern computers don't use diskettes any more, but the letters are still reserved. "C" is typically the first hard disk, or the first partition. "D" can be just about anything - it may be unassigned, it may be a second hard disk, a second partition on the first hard disk, a CD or DVD drive, or a USB drive.

Where is the c drive and a d drive and a f drive?

Well, the c drive is usually the first hard disk drive (hard drive for short) in your computer, with d, e, and f being additional hard drives, or at least spaces that if used all at once would lead to an f drive. As for the a and b drives, they are reserved for floppy disk drives, or floppies for short. The C drive is what came with your computer. It is the default drive where all of your system info, & programs. The D drive could be a "partition" which is still on the C drive, but set up as a separate drive. The CD-ROM is usually labeled as the D drive. The F drive could be a memory stick(or other storage media) that is in a USB port. Drives D, E, F, G, and so on could also be additional hard drives that have been installed on your computer.

Why is the hard drive called c?

In the old days, computers had floppy drives. They usually had two, so you could put a program disk in drive A, and a data disk in drive B.Later computers kept two drives so they could support both formats: 5 1/4 inch, and 3 1/2 inches. By this time, hard drives were universal, and almost always installed as the C drive.AnswerOriginally, computers used floppy drives. The first drive was called "A:", then computers had 2 drives, A and B. Then... hard drives
