Yes the iPad is really good. There are plenty of stuffs you can do with the iPad just like a normal PC you can send E-mails, read books, open websites, download games and music, capture and save photos, read the news and take a look at the weather or even use it at school or at the office to save data and any other stuff.
So yeah, the price is worth it.

Not as portable as iPod/iphone
Not as many apps as ipod/iphone, but more are added every day
