A mammoth is a big furry animal that existed many years ago. you would have seen this animal if you have ever watched the movie Ice Age. there is a mammoth in that movie. it doesn't look exactly like an elephant but they have some similarities like their eyes and trunks and more. they are like cousins. mammoths eat grass because mammoths are herbivores. herbivores are animals that only eat plants. many mammoths died because in their area, they didn't have grass but most people thought they were hunted until scientists proved them wrong. most people were wondering if they should clone the mammoths. There's Mammoth DNA found in the glaciers. some people think that with technology should they consider cloning a new mammoth to bring the species back from extinction. some other people think that they should not bring the mammoths back from extinction because there wont be many places for them to live since humans are building new buildings and houses.

No, a mammoth is NOT a dinosaur.

Mammoths are mammals, very closely related to elephants. (Mammoths and elephants are members of a group called Elephantidae).

Mammoths first appeared a few million years ago and went extinct a few thousand years ago.

Dinosaurs on the other hand are reptiles (but not ''lizards'' or any modern day sprawling creature).

Many types of dinosaur went extinct about 65 million years ago. The only dinosaurs that survived this mass extinction and are alive today are birds.

Crocodiles are the closest living relatives to the dinosaurs but are not dinosaurs them selves.

Dinosaurs (+birds) and crocodiles are members of a group called Archosauria (but are on different branches of this group).

There is no such thing as a Mamouth - you mean MAMMOTH an extinct relative of the elephant. It's large size has caused it's name to be used to infer power or huge dimensions.

Unfortunately it appears to be frequently misspelt upon the internet... a similar spelling 'mammouth' is used in French however.
