Kinda. A mellophone is a trumpet pitched like a french horn. It has mostly trumpet fingerings.

You generally use a French Horn mouthpiece for a mellophone. Hope this helps!

Is it easier to play the trumpet or the mellophone?

It depends. The trumpet uses less air, but it takes alot to get high notes. And same goes for mellophone. They are heavier than trumpets and lower in some volume, notes wise. Like, if you played french horn, it would be easier to play mellophone because it is in the same range with fingerings and air volume. Trumpets are the same throughout. But in conclusion, they are pretty much the same. The only difference is sound and weight.

Does the mellowphone use the same fingerings as a f horn?

Depends how you finger the f horn. Horn can use any fingerings that mellophone can, but not the other way around. This is because the overtone series of the horn is an octave below that of the mellophone. ~ Adding onto that, mellowphones use the same fingerings as trumpets. Generally, the fingerings are the same as the F horn fingerings an octave lower, but not always.

Are the notes on a xylophone the same on a piano?

Yes. All musical notes are the same (abcdefg) the only difference is the tone, or the pitch, and such. The xylophone actually is like a piano with fewer, but wider keys.
