The thallus is haploid.

It depends on the three basic life cycle of sexually reproducing fungi, in haplobiontic A life cycle, the thallus is haploid, in haplobiontic B life cycle the thallus is diploid and in diplobiontic life cycle, it has two thallus, a sporophytic thallus which is diploid and a gametophytic thallus which is haploid.
