replace asap. The cost of a new gasket is less then a new engine. (coolent if leaking into the engine rots seals and causes major damage). A few hundred or a few thousand your call.
NONE!! These type products are emergency repairs and will not permanently fix a blown head gasket or cooling system leak. In fact they can cause problems later on. Do not use these type products at all. Have the problem repaired correctly with a permanent fix.
depending on where the oil is leaking from. sump gasket? rocker cover gasket? hoses? castings?
That is a common problem with the Vortec engines, First place the gasket is not made of much as you can see. Antifreeze eats the gasket up over time. The ORANGE antifreeze is BAD. If the Intake was OVER TORQUED that will cause it to leak/ Go bad too.
An oil leak problem probably is the sign of a problem in your oil pressure or it could simply be a slow leak. The problem can cost anywhere from $100.00 to $400.00 for an oil pressure problem.
Check for water in your oil, if so, this is a sign of bad head gasket. White smoke from the exhaust and loss of coolant with no apparent leak are all signs of a blown head gasket. You can also remove the thermostat (it is much cheaper to replace and easier to troubleshoot as well). If the temperature of the vehicle lowers, your thermostat was the problem.
I'm not sure what "screw" you are referring to,but any gasket joint can leak at the mating surfaces and/or past the fastener threads. If you are replacing the thermostat, you might want to use the OEM gasket. Probably a neoprene gasket. I have never had the OEM gasket to fail. You have to watch how much you tighten these fasteners. They don't require very much torque.
NO DO NOT DO THIS. A BLOWN HEAD GASKET WILL LEAK ANTIFREEZE. CAUSING THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT. I AM NOT SURE HOW MUCH IT WILL COST TO BE DONE BY A PROFFESIONAL.
if the leak is at the thermostat housing, make sure you installed the gasket and that is torque down to specs.(you may try some silicone, not too much)
Probably a leak in the valve cover gasket around the spark plug. If it isn't building up a lot of oil, it probably isn't much of a problem. Once the oil pools up to the gasket, it stops building up.It's more of an annoyance than anything, and if you want, you can pull the valve cover and replace the gasket.
My first thought was that you may have a head gasket problem. To verify before spending much money, have a compression & leak down test performed on each cylinder. Each should read 90 to 110.
If it the gasket on the oil pan leaking, it would cost approximately $450 to have the oil pan removed and the gasket replaced.
Depends on if the gasket is the only problem. Can be the head is cracked or warped. Get an estimate from a trusted shop.
