Calories are calories. If you consume fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight. If you consume alcohol calories instead of food calories but still burn more than you consume, you will lose weight. Seriously SERIOUSLY would not recommend it though, the other health risks surrounding consuming only alcohol are profound and in many cases irreversible.

There's no single thing that will make or break your attempt at losing weight.

There's really no secret to weight loss, it's all about managing your calorie/energy budget. Your body gains energy through what you eat and what you drink, and your body loses energy through what you do. If you're putting more energy in than you're using up, then the excess will be turned into fat.

To lose weight you have to use up more energy than you're getting from your food, it's as simple as that.

Foods that are fatty and sugary are "dangerous", b/c they are high in calories/energy. It only takes a little of those to give you a lot of calories/energy.

Vegetables are "safe", in that they are low in calories, so you can eat quite a lot of them and still only get a small amount of calories.

But it's all a balance between how much and what you're eating.

Several pounds of carrots or sweet fruits would still break your calorie budget, despite being "healthy".

There is recent indication that moderate alcohol intake (1 drink per day) can be helpful to women in losing weight. This is based on limited studies, and may or may not prove to be accurate overall.

This is not true !!!

Sip Smart: Limit Alcohol

When an occasion includes alcohol, follow the first drink with a nonalcoholic, low-calorie beverage like sparkling water instead of moving directly to another cocktail, beer, or glass of wine. Alcohol has more calories per gram (7) than carbohydrates (4) or protein (4). It can also loosen your resolve, leading you to mindlessly inhale chips, nuts, and other foods you'd normally limit.
