The Accordion, like every musical instrument, has played an important role in society for many years as it was used to provide the music for social events in many countries around the world especially during the early half of the twentieth century. However, from the 1950s onwards this musical instrument had declined in popularity following the introduction of rock and Pop Music to the United States and Western Europe. Around this time the accordion was only played at small gatherings and provided an unusual charm. Today, however, accordions are gaining an increase in popularity with some famous bands such as Those Darn Accordions bringing the accordion back into the minds of music lovers. The accordion is a very important musical instrument as it can provide you the opportunity to meet with fellow musicians thus providing you with a social outlet. While it is difficult to play the accordion well at the beginning as it requires a lot of practise, it is well worth it in my opinion as it can open up other avenues such as teaching which can earn you some extra money in the long run.
