A past employer may give a prospective employer an overview of the employee's employment record. They can give their opinion about the employee's character.
Generally, to collect benefits it is allowed to file for those benefits in any state, but the funds for payment come from the person's last employer and that employer's state employment service (in this case, from Michigan).
Is a previous employer allowed to tell a prospective employer you were fired when you were not in Nevada?
Depending on the state, yes it can be legal. Illinois is an employment at will state, therefore an employer does not have to give a reason for terminating your employment.

Your right to breaks will be determined by your contract with your employer and or the employment laws in the country in which you are living/working. The level of your remuneration should have nothing to do with it.
Your employer shouldn't have allowed you to work without a social security card and they are holding off on paying you because of this fact. You are still entitled to wages for hours worked and should speak to an employment attorney or your state's department of labor for assistance.
I don't know about in California but I heard that an employer is not allowed to tell anything about an ex employee unless used as a reference. If you just use the employer as a previous job all they are supposed to be allowed to verify is that you did work there and the dates. However if you put them down as a reference and a prospective employer calls them they can elaborate on your character as well.
Yes, they are legally allowed to.
