Answer:

The word "bankruptcy" isn't in The Bible. But there are principles involved within its pages that may apply, which is forthcoming.

"Bankruptcy" is a legal invention of man, whose nature is hostile to the laws of God [see Rom.8:7].

There are more learned men, regarding the laws of God, who can explain it better... but the laws of God, recorded in the Bible, are based upon the premise that "God is the ruler over His people"... and He owns everything -- not a "man," like a president, or premiere, or king.

When God "liberated" His people [faithful Abraham's children] from their bondage... HE WAS THEIR KING AND SOVEREIGN, until His rebellious nation cried out for a "visible king" [a flesh and blood man] to rule over them, instead of their invisible "LORD God."

They insisted on appearing to their neighbors to be just like them, who were ruled by their self-serving kings, rulers, emperors and dictators.

Under God's direct sovereign laws... BLESSINGS, FORGIVENESS AND MERCY IS BUILT INTO the running of the nation. These are known as "Sabbaths." Weekly Sabbaths to remember God's Grace and Mercy, and creation... and Sabbaths of yearly cycles that provides both rest and arable richness to the land, and "FORGIVES INDEBTEDNESS"... seven-year cycles and the 50th year called the "Jubilee" [Lev.25:10].

Under God's Benevolent Rule [which man's naturally rebellious attitude; his carnal minded spirit -- views as "harsh bondage"]... there is need for neither the invention of "central banks" nor of the legal tool of reconciliation for the result of things like shady banking-practice induced impoverishment called "bankruptcy" proceedings.

In a God-led, God-fearing nation, there is instead, "trust in and obedience to God" and the morally upright, obedient practice of the people to His Righteous statutes and laws through a thing called "honesty."

You know... things like, "no stealing from or lying to" one another... or the "coveting" of others' possessions [that man's banking system claims for itself as "collateral"].

With men... mercy and forgiveness is rarely given. But with God... Mercy is written into His laws for those who obey Him:

"...shewing MERCY unto thousands of them that LOVE ME, and KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS." (Ex.20:6) The Second Commandment on Idolatry.

This was spoken aloud to Abraham's children [the Ten Commandments] by the God of the Old Testament, who even wrote them down in stone for them with His own finger [Ex.31:18]. At that time, He was the WORD of God who later became the man, Jesus Christ of Nazareth [John 1:3 - "All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made."]

God has always demanded man's "obedience" to His laws. But man's nature is to rebel... against most anything [as the saying goes: what do you have?]

And God has always been Merciful to those who at least "try"... those who have the desire in their hearts to want to please Him and endeavor to do so.

But, God's own people rejected Him and His "gracious, merciful" laws.

And they adopted the "ways of the world"... and the "laws" of the world. Laws that necessitated "bankruptcy" proceedings, due to the oppressive, jealous, covetous, greedy, envious ways of the world.

No place is found in the Bible for "bankruptcy." Men place their trust in the institutions of man to "secure their future for him." And they have been betrayed by it, repeatedly.

The Bible tells us to store up "spiritual treasure" with God [Matt.6:20]. Things that banks and the greed of men can't touch. If the Bible were to use the word "bankrupt"... it might better be applied to man's "spiritual condition" [as some people say: "spiritually bankrupt"].

This bankruptcy is a matter of "the lack of Godly Knowledge and Understanding" in the hearts and minds of men. The lack of Spiritual Understanding that brings men and nations to ruination.

"My people are destroyed for lack of Knowledge [spiritual bankruptcy]... seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children." (Hos.4:6)

Man's spiritual bankruptcy and subsequent hopelessness... is a matter of "repentance" with our Creator. A matter of abandoning the ways of the world, and coming into obedience to Him. And a matter of His Grace, Mercy and Forgiveness of those whose hearts are sincere and faithful. In this spiritual "bankruptcy proceeding"... a man loses nothing but his oppressive fear and hopelessness... and gains liberty and Eternal Life.

Bankruptcy is in the Bible in "spiritual" principle... but not the word, nor the need for it as the world uses it.
