While it may explain why you're late for work, it would not be a very wise excuse to give to your employer for a few reasons.
1) Admitting you broke the law to your employer. Regardless of the governments innocent until proven guilty, telling your employer you were pulled over suggests you violated the law.
2) Punctuality & Time Management, Your employer is going to assume you're lacking in both these departments. One because you're late, the other assumes you were speeding to get to work on time or in such a rush as to disregard the law.
3) Not a good excuse in general. Being stopped by the police doesn't negate your basic responsibilities to your employer, such as clocking in on time.
A lame excuse is an excuse of poor quality or lack of thought. For instance, a man was late for work and he had no real reason why, so when his boss asked him why he was late, he quickly thought up something and said, "I over slept." His boss replied, "That's a lame excuse." or meaning that it was not a good excuse or good reason to be late to work.

The Cullen's excuse for cooking Italian is that Bella was coming over to the Cullen's house, and the Cullen's, being as proper as they are, decided she would probably be hungry. Therefore, cooking Italian.
You COULD be pulled over for 1, because it is a LIMIT, but usually you won't get pulled over for less than 3 since the radar detector has a margin of error, of +/-1 mph but anything over 5 you most probably will get pulled over. Retired NYPD anything 5 or over you will definitely get pulled over, even possibly a ticket.
If you were in a race and cops showed up you'd be the first to get pulled over
You are less likely to get pulled over when it is on the passenger side, but you can still get pulled over for it.

0 points its not a moving violation or grounds for being pulled over, most people get the ticket after being pulled over for other reasons, or while parked in a parking lot... Its just to make the state money & paying the ticket will not affect insurance rates
