Yes it can. Walking into the room to get your presser checked, just smoking a cigarette and other factors may effect your blood pressure. For an accurate test you should set at rest for a couple of minutes.

But this doesn't answer the specific question asked. the answer is NO. Body position has nothing to do with increase or decrease in blood pressure as long as you are at rest. But even at rest, emotional stress can increase blood pressure. there are many factors that effect blood pressure.

So pressure varies according to changes in height.The higher the height the higher the pressure and vice versa.

CASE 1:A man lying flat on a level ground.the arterial pressure on his head and feet lets say s 12.67 kPa(the pressure on his chest will be a bit higher 13.3 kPa becoz of higher position of chest)The venial pressure is lower well because the blood flowing in the veins is not directly being pumped by the heart lets say 0.67 at the feet and brain.

If the man now stands uprightly the arterial pressure on the head becomes 6.80kPa and the venial pressure is _5.2o.The fall in pressure is due to changes in attitude.NB,the arterial pressure on the feet now increases up to 24.40k Pa,venule pressure 12.4O kPA COZ PRESSURE ON THE FEET IS NOW MUCH HIGHER THAN WHEN THE MAN WAS LYING DOWN,

Basically depending on ones posture the blood pressure at diff points of his body change coz of changes in h,so one should always maintain appropriate body posture.

When taking a person's blood pressure, the arm should be at level with the heart. Otherwise, the reading will be inaccurate. However, as long as blood pressure is taken properly, the variation in the result is should be minimal. For a person with an imbalance of the autonomic nervous system, blood pressure usually changes when the person stands up. It is called postural hypotension.
