White rice has the outer husk (covering) removed; brown rice doesn't, which is why it is brown. Almost all the vitamins, minerals and fiber in rice is in this outer covering - white rice is just the starch part of the rice. That's why brown is healthier. Try mixing half and half to get started switching over. Also put a little more water in brown rice and cook it longer to make it softer. It has much more flavor and once you make the switch you won't want to go back.

Brown rice is good for your health because it hasn't had it's husk removed and therefore takes longer for your body to digest it. The energy released is at a slow and steady rate keeping your blood sugar stable which helps to prevent Diabetes.

Brown rice is very healthy. Just make sure to eat it in moderation! It isn't healthy if you eat bowls and bowls of it (obviously), but if you just eat a serving, it's great for you.
