Brutus thought that he was honourable and right. He and his fellow conspirators thought that they were saving the Roman Republic because Julius Caesar had given the impression that he wanted to become a king. This would have meant the end of the Republic.

The Roman Republic had been established centuries earlier following a rebellion against the last king of Rome, who was a tyrant. The Romans decided to establish a republic headed by two annually elected consuls to prevent the return of tyranny. They also swore not to let anyone try to become a king ever again. During the Early Republic one man was executed and another one was forced to commit suicide because of accusations of trying to become a king. Many Romans thought that if Caesar became a king he would become a tyrant.

What was Brutus full name from Julius Caesar?

There were two men that had the name "Brutus." If you're talking about the one that was like Julius Caesar's son and gave the speech, you're thinking of Marcus Brutus. But if you're talking about the one against Caesar and the one who wanted to start the conspiracy, that's Cassius Brutus. The twowere brothers-in-law. I know his last name was brutusIt was not! in fact his name was Marcus Junius Brutus, and the other you were talking about, was Caius Cassius.Decius Brutus (full name Decius Junius Brutus--Junius Brutus was the family name) was the brother-in-law who was also a conspirator against Caesar and was the man who lured Caesar out of his house to the Senate by telling him that his wife had misinterpreted her dream. Not Caius Cassius

Brutus was a protégé of Caesar, and was considered to be one of his closest friends. That is why Caesar said "Et tu, Brute?" (What? You too, Brutus??) when Brutus stabbed him, and why Antony calls Brutus Caesar's angel.

Favourite scene from Julius Caesar?

CASSIUS Why, man, he doth bestride the narrow world Like a Colossus, and we petty men Walk under his huge legs and peep about To find ourselves dishonorable graves. Men at some time are masters of their fates: The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, But in ourselves, that we are underlings. Brutus and Caesar: what should be in that 'Caesar'? Why should that name be sounded more than yours? Write them together, yours is as fair a name; Sound them, it doth become the mouth as well; Weigh them, it is as heavy; conjure with 'em, Brutus will start a spirit as soon as Caesar. Now, in the names of all the gods at once, Upon what meat doth this our Caesar feed, That he is grown so great? Age, thou art shamed! Rome, thou hast lost the breed of noble bloods! When went there by an age, since the great flood, But it was famed with more than with one man? When could they say till now, that talk'd of Rome, That her wide walls encompass'd but one man? Now is it Rome indeed and room enough, When there is in it but one only man. O, you and I have heard our fathers say, There was a Brutus once that would have brook'd The eternal devil to keep his state in Rome As easily as a king.

What are Brutus character flaws?

That Caesar was ambitious and a bit arrogant. He also trusted in the fact that the Roman military would keep him in control of Rome's affairs. These flaws in his character and trust in the military proved useless to the "dagger. The daggar problem was one that haunted Augustus and all the emperors that followed.
