Wish I knew. I have A Neg blood group, with C Neg and E Neg and I can't find out a thing about what it means. Hopefully this lack of information means that it is so normal it's not worth bothering about.

It's possible if both parents are heterozygous for both Rh factor and ... type-A-ness, whatever the word for that is. That is if they're both +- and AO genetically, they'd both have blood type A positive, but they'd both have the potential to pass along blood type O and Rh factor negative. If the baby gets O- from both mom and dad, then the baby would be OO -- and therefore O negative.It's not necessarily what you would expect (7 times out of 8, the baby would be type A, Rh postive, or both), but it is possible.If they have a B negative baby, mom's been fooling around on dad.

I assume what you are talking about is D antigen in Rh (Rhesus) blood group system. Rh blood group system is the most important blood group system after ABO blood group system (i.e. type A (AA, AO), type AB, type B (BB, BO), type O (OO) ). The Rh blood group system consists of 50 defined blood-group antigens and the 5 antigens D, C, c, E, and e are the most important. The commonly-used terms Rh factor, Rh positive and Rh negative refer to the D antigen only. Rh factor (Rh- and Rh + depending on D antigen neg/pos) is important for blood transfusion and prevention of hemolytic disease of the newborn or erythroblastosis fetalis (basically the baby and mom have different blood type - Rh- and Rh+ and cause severe immune response - fatal to the newborn)

Why is it impossible for a person with blood type AB to have a child with blood type O?
because type O (0 - zero) has no patterns, type A has A0 or AA pattern, type B has B0 or BB pattern and AB has AB pattern. patterns are combined, so A + B = AB, A + A = B, B+B = B and AB + 0 = AB (no pattern means nothing :)). It is the reason why blood type 0 is so rare, A0 + 00 will create A0, that means blood type A. Well, blood type 0 is not the most rare one... You know, when human is in uterus, the whole evolution is taking place. If something goes wrong, ppl can be born with animal blood as well, eg I have blood type C. EDIT ABO blood typing is simple. A and B are co-dominant genes, and O is recessive. So, A and B rule over O. Type A blood means that your alleles (only one can come from mother and one from father) are either AA (alleles as a pair are called genotype) or AO (type A because the A is dominant over the O) but to be type O, you need to O alleles, or OO genotype, each parent mathematically has to have at least 1 O allele. The parent with AB doesn't have the O gene.
