No, the engine will still crank over but will not start if this sensor is bad because it controls the fuel injection circuit.

Where is crank shaft position sensor jeep?

The Model and Year of Jeep and engine size is required information for a specific answer. The Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP or sometimes CPS) is located on the transmission bell housing. The Camshaft Position Sensor ( sometimes called the Camshaft Pickup or CPS) is located inside the distributor. If your Jeep has the coil-on-plug distributor-less ignition, it still has a Camshaft Sensor in the same location as the distributor would be located.

Where is the camshaft sensor on a 1996 Chevy z71?

That engine does not have a cam sensor. It still has a distributor. If the engine is not firing then I would replace the ignition module that's in the distributor under the cap.

How do you replace camshaft position sensor on 1991 buick lesabre?

I replaced one on an 89 LeSabre 3800 V6. The camshaft sensor on this engine was located on the passenger side of the engine. You will need to remove the serpentine belt, and you can get to it by removing the inner fender or splash guard and get to it that way. I went down from the top. There are two sensors, one is a CRANKSHAFT sensor and other is a cam sensor. Make sure you know which is which. The crankshaft sensor is at the bottom of the engine, the camshaft is right by the water inlet. It is held in by 1 or 2 bolts. If your car is throwing the code for the camshaft sensor, just a heads up. I replaced the sensor and the sensor detects magnets installed on the camshaft. The engine kept throwing the code and came to find out one of the magnets had come off the end of the cam. I am telling you this just in case you go through the replacement and still end up with the code. I was still able to drive the vehicle with the check engine light on with the missing magnets. the camshaft sensor is not too hard to replace, it's tight but it can be done. unbolt the old and bolt in the new. Make sure you disconnect battery before tackling this project.

97 Taurus no fire changed coil pak still no fire only code is camshaft sensor What is problem?

How do you change the camshaft position sensor?

Before you change the sensor which is down on the front of the engine you need to see if the magnet is still in place inside the timing chain cover. On our 2000 ford escort zx2 the camshaft position sensor was located right below the oil cap. All it took was a 8mm ratchet. On a dodge neon the sensor is on the trans side of the head and is held on with either 2 or 4 screws. On other vehicles it is held in by one bolt.
