What could the ticking noise coming from the engine of a 1999 Daewoo Lanos be and approximately how much would it cost to get it fixed?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

My brother's Daewoo Lanos 2000 (using the stantard E-TECH engine) which I have been working on since about 15,000 miles has since day one had the same ticking in the engine. When I went back to the dealership I was assured that there was no problem with the car and that all of the Daewoo that use the e-tech engine (which is now also used in the Chevy Aveo and the Kia Spectra) have the same characteristic ticking. When I expressed my disbelief the dealer took me around and let me listen to most of the daewoo left on the lot. It is true that they all shared the ticking. It seems poor engineering that creates an engine that ticks. After all the ticking MUST be caused by parts that are tourching, and after a while surely it will wear away. It is worrysome but as of yet I have been unable to find a cure for this praticular problem. If there are comments about this answer please email me: michael_w_dawson@yahoo.com

What is the proper order to re-connect the spark plug leads on a 1995 VS commodore?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If the coil packs (the v6 engines went to 3 separate ones about half way through the VN model) are original or the correct genuine replacement(s), the cylinder numbers will be on top of the individual coils. They fired in pairs, like some motorcycles, and mixing them up will cause very bad misfiring. This is because the "return" lead (which was the one of the pair that went to the non firing plug, for that spark instance) was selected to have its cylinder at (or near) Top Dead Centre on the EXHAUST stroke, giving an easy passage for the spark, as it not only had to fire the intended cylinder, which was near maximum compression pressure with the fuel/air mixture, but had to travel the "return" route through the block and heads (easy) but also had to jump the gap in the opposite spark plug (not so easy, but easier in the lower pressure with the exhaust valve open) and then back up the opposite lead to the coil to complete the circuit. This meant one misfiring plug (or bad lead) would often cause two cylinders to misfire. Pedants please don't attack me about direction of electrical flow and what-not, this explanation makes it simple enough that you don't need three years study to understand the basic works.

Cylinder numbering was easy (GM liked it simple). Number one was the most forward (or closest to the water pump). Two was the next most forward (which meant the opposite side of the engine [as the cylinders were staggered], at least in Holdens with rear wheel drive). Three was immediately behind one, with five behind it. Four and six obviously and in that order behind two.

How much oil do I put into a 2004 Toyota Echo?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If you still have the owner's manual for the 2004 echo there should be a specifications section that will tell you the oil capacity (drain and refill) with a filter change and without a filter change. For instance, I have a 2002 Toyota echo. On page 217 of my owner's manual it shows that the capacity with a filter change is 3.7 liters, 3.9 quarts or 3.3 imperial quarts. I would imagine that the oil capcity of your 2004 echo is similar. After you change the oil and filter add the 3.9 quarts and check the oil level on the dip stick. Also note, my owner manual states that the amount of oil to fill between the low level and the full level on the dipstick is 1.5 liters, 1.6 quarts and 1.3 imperial quarts. Hope this answers the question.

If an airbag light came on after taking off and replacing a steering wheel, the person needs to make sure the steering wheel is on correctly. Otherwise, to reset the light a person can use the OBDii scanner and clear the light.

How do you get the heater control panel off a Daewoo Lanos without breaking it?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

its very easy actually. 1. take out (the 2 side pieces that make up your exterrior of your panel) pry them out dont be afraid. theyll cime out dont worry

2. you will see the screws for the radio and the heater unit now.(unscrew all because they kind of overlap the brackets and it s easier this way.)

3.be careful when removig heater unit the radio should easily unplug. to make it easier for you to deal with the heater unit.

4.you will see 2 or 3 plug ins(depending on options) to the unit. Unplug dont worry they only fit in one socket anyways cant mess this up.

5. you will have 2 cables attached to each control knob, pinch the end of the plastic to release the cable, once cable is released you will see a plastic clear piece still holding the cable in place, puch this piece you will see theirs only one way it will release the cable. take your time with this because you cant break them yetr they need some force to release.

6.oh ya by the way grab a pair of vice grips and pull the knobs off the face of the unit.

hope i helped

Why is your Daewoo lanos using to much fuel?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There could be all the usual things like tune up, too hard driving conditions, underinflated tires, etc. However, i have a Lanos and it's really not good on gas for such a small car. I bought it new, and it always gave dissapointing gas mileage. Our Honda Civic gets like 10 more mpgs! So don't expect too much from Lanos.
