No. Coffee was discovered in Africa. According to Arab legend goat herders discovered their goats became frisky when they ate the seeds of a particular plant. They tried the bitter seeds themselves.

Coffee had been known for years. The Arabs discovered a way to make it usable. It came to Europe by way of Turkey.

The best coffee can not stand freezing weather and grows at an elevation of roughly 1 kilometer to 2 kilometers (roughly 1 thousand to 2 thousand feet). Until the Netherlands established peace in Indonesia, the part of the world where it with the safest farmland was in the Americas. Farmers do best where it is safe to grow crops. As a result most coffee was grown in the Americas.
