Is complete numbness and skin burning feeling in upper thigh normal 1 week after having diagnostic laparoscopy with removal of a lot of endometriosis or is it possible that you have nerve damage?

I had the same surgery ten years ago and there are still areas on my right thigh (surface) that have no feeling. My mom had similar results after her hysterectomy. Nerve damage is what I was told.
