If you live in a cold region you have to replace it because it will not stand low temperatures. If you live in one of southern states you can keep it. It's supposed to be compatible with all kind of car brands.
Bad thermostat maybe?
Most 2000 GM cars were filled with the RED Dexcool coolant. Using the standard green fluid after the Dexcool has been used can lead to clogged coolant passages and destroy the engine.
change your thermostat.
First of all i have seen this question alot & its sad too me. SEE DEXCOOL CLASSACTION" HAVE YOU HAD A BLOWN HEAD GASKET ? DEXCOOL LEAKIN OUT ? Your Not alone approx. 33,000,000 Yes 33 MILLION Cars & Trucks were identified as claimants in a GM classaction suit. I Would "never" buy a GM. so i stumbled acrooss this. an elderly couple wanted me to look at their Buick, it was leaking on the backside of their motor, ever so slightly. She Kept adding DEXCOOL. I told them The Headgaskets going ETC..... & the car ISNT WORTH IT.... They took it in to be repaired. New Radiator" Because It was Filled With gunk{ dexcool doin its job} Then A headgasket{ dexcool working just fine}. Then 1 yr. Later. ANOTHER HEADGASKET. they conceded. My goal wasnt to be right ! It was to help them from getting ripped off.....$$$$$%%% Take a few minutes to learn about this suit, & when you put it all together, YOU AS A CONSUMER Will Be able to make a CHOICE, THAT SUITS YOU BEST, Not The automaker.
i had this problem too and a couple weeks after it started my low coolant light came on so i filled it up with dexcool and havent had the problem since
i have an 87 560sel mercedes.I flushed the line filled the freon and the air is warm.I don't have a manual anybody got any ideas
Coolant is flushed from the radiator of a 1997 Honda Accord by opening the petcock and allowing the system to drain. The petcock is then closed, the system filled with water, and a flush added to the radiator to cleanse the system.
for years, Firestone has changed the oil on my 2001 4 runner. They always filled it with 5.2 qts and now they are filling it with 5.5 qts. What is the capacity of a 2001 Toyota 4 runner limited with 2wd?
It is not suggested to put water in a Toyota Rav 4. The engine cooling system can get too hot and coolant is preferred. To pour coolant find the coolant reservoir and pour fluid until the max line is filled.
If your radiator is completely full of coolant (check first), then on the passenger side there is a white box with a black cap that sits right behind the battery. That is your coolant reservoir. Any additional coolant would be filled into that reservoir. Also you should know what coolant your vehicle has running in it. GM uses their own special coolant known as DEXCOOL which is a long life coolant. Mixing DEXCOOL with any other coolant reduces it's life and cooling effeciency. So be sure to match what coolant you already have and you'll be alright.
take it back to where you had it serviced there may be an air pocket in the cooling system
change your oil asap. and check your coolant level, you may need to have your radiator flushed and filled, but just having an oil change could take care of your problem. hope this helped : )
