For me it is.
The person doing the repair has to take the engine more than 60% apart to repair it.
It is likely that the cylinder head will need to be sent to a machine shop for repair.
To do the head gasket on my car takes about $800 labour and $450 in gaskets plus any machine work.
That depends entirely on how much you value the car.
If it was removed then YES.
You must replace the defective gasket. There is no other permanent fix.
The head gasket itself isn't actually expensive. The labour of taking the head off and back on is the expensive. For example when I did my car it was £60 for the gasket and if I was to go to a garage they would of charged £200 labour.
Head gaskets are expensive but can disable a car if not treated. The cost for a new head gasket for a Toyota is $177.12.
around 1 grand
Yes.
It would solve the head gasket or a cracked head. Sources: My dad.
Intake and exhaust manifold gaskets are also replaced along with the head gasket. Head is inspected and if cracked it is replaced. Head bolts should also be replaced with new ones.
A few things you have to look at- How old is the car? Except for the bad head gasket, does the car operate OK? How many miles are on the car?? These are things you have to decide what you will do.
Pretty expensive (from a garage). Most people scrap their cars after a head gasket has blown, or get a new engine.
Were the rings replaced at the time the head gasket was replaced? Common problem when replacing the head gasket is not fixing other engine problems which usually go hand in hand with head gasket problems.
