The years 1998, 2005 and 2010 are regarded as the equal warmest years on record. The past decade was the warmest since instrumental measurements began in 1850, and the ten warmest years since 1850 have now all occurred since 1998.

The evidence is now so overwhelming that climate scientists are no longer in doubt that global warming and climate change are occurring, and that this is the result of human activity. But even opponents of climate science are beginning to accept the facts of global warming. Richard Muller, a Physics Professor and longtime critic of climate studies, set out with a team of physicists and statisticians to challenge the scientific consensus on global warming but is producing results nearly identical to those underlying the prevailing view.

The reasons for it are the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. There are some scientists who accept that global warming is real but they think there are other causes for it not caused by man. A tiny number don't think there is any warming at all.
