In some cases, goodwill and tolerance are associated with religion. In other cases, religion is the basis of intolerance, although adherents rarely acknowledge this.

An excellent example of Christian goodwill occurred in in 782, when the Indian Buddhist missionary Prajna arrived in the Chinese imperial capital, Chang'an, but was unable to translate the Sanskrit sutras he had brought with him into either Chinese or any other familiar tongue. He duly consulted the local Christian bishop named Adam, who had already translated parts of The Bible into Chinese, and the two probably shared a knowledge of Persian. Buddhist and Christian scholars worked amiably together for some years to translate seven copious volumes of Buddhist wisdom. The outcome was, of course, that Buddhism went on to become the dominant religion of China.

Yes goodwill is very much associated with Christianity. This is simply being friendly, helpful and this is expected of all Christians.
