Hibernating your computer has the same effect on the hardware as does turning it off. There is not an appreciable difference between the two operations when it relates to the wear and tear of the individual hardware components. The only difference between the two is that when you hibernate a PC, the contents of memory are written to the hard drive do they can be retrieved when the power is switched back on. After that, the power is turned off exactly like it is when you just shut it down.
