The truth is that honey is just the same as sugar.Although honey has the same caloric value as sugar, (1800 cal.) but in every other respect it is far superior. If honey contained no water its caloric value would be practically the same as that of cane-sugar. A tablespoonful of honey weighs about an ounce and provides the body with 100 calories. Honey does not contain any harmful chemicals and is entirely utilized by the digestive tract. Not more than one two-hundredth part is wasted. Commercial or white sugar, made from sugar-cane, beets, corn, etc., is submitted to several complicated boiling procedures during the process of manufacture. The organic acids, protein, nitrogen elements, fats, enzymes and vitamins are extracted or destroyed; on the other hand, hydrochloric, phosphoric and sulphuric acids, lime and other foreign substances are added. While honey is Nature's own sweet, untouched by human art, sugar is a concentrated, denatured and polluted substitute, a produce, as a rule, of sugar-cane, robbed by superheating of most of its natural and valuable constituents. Honey and other simple or natural sugars, like that in dates, figs, raisins, etc., are live physiological sugars which contain the germs of life, while industrial sugars are anti-physiological, dead or, as a matter of fact, murdered sweets.

Honey raises the body's blood sugar levels so diabetics need to be aware of it when they eat it too, just like table sugar. But honey has other health benefits to it that sugar doesn't -- some people can eat locally grown honey or honeycomb and find relief in their Allergies. Honey also can be moisturizing if your skin, scalp or hair is dry or damaged (it rinses out cleanly with warm water). It can soothe a sore throat if you mix a little in with warm water and sip it in or like tea.

The disadvantages to table sugar are: it often has pesticide residue in it, and it is very highly refined, so many health benefits are removed from it. It is rare for a honey plant to employ and abuse child laborers, but it is common for countries farming sugar cane to employ and abuse child labor.

Why honey is added over suger as a sweetner?

Honey has a lower GI value than sugar, meaning that it doesn't raise blood sugar levels as quickly. It's also sweeter than sugar, so you may need less of it, but it does have slightly more calories per teaspoon, so I always keep a close eye on portion sizes.
