Why do people cut it just outs you in more pain?
cutting, like the feeling one gets from a 'runners high', causes the release of endorphins, this in turn causes pain to shift. The physical pain that is believed to exist is transformed into actual 'visible' pain. Mental pain is then thought to become secondary. When I cut myself my emotional pain becomes physical pain and the opiates produced in my brain help me to go into shock and the pain stops. Creating real (physical) pain to mask mental pain is the tragic idea of this abnormality. Well adjusted happy people do not cut themselves, only those whose mental pain overwhelms them resort to such self inflicted violence---please get help!
