There are many debates on the need for rabies vaccinations in cats. Read up on the vacine and ask your vet. If your cat is indoor only, rabies vaccinations are not necessary. If you do decide to get your cat this vaccine, it can be done with the others.

Why the cat need to be vaccinated?

A kitten requires a series of shots. The first is the feline distemper, sometimes refered to as FVRCP. These are given in a series with 2 shots about 3-4 weeks apart. The FVRCP is repeated annually. Vaccines for feline leukemia and feline aides are important if the cat goes outside. These vaccines are given in a series of 2 to bolster immunity in the the first year, then annually. Rabies is given annually begining at 16 wks old. New recommendations are first shots at 9 weeks old. Rabies after 20 weeks. USE ONLY NON ADJUVANTED rabies. You do not vaccinate for anything (except rabies by law) after the kitten shots. (a series of 2, four weeks apart).

What will you do your dog has diarrhea and vomits after having anti rabies vaccine?

You should contact your veterinarian immediately to let him/her know that your dog had a reaction to the rabies vaccine. This way, the next time your dog needs to be vaccinated, your vet will know to watch the dog for 24 hours after vaccinating to ensure your dog doesn't have a more severe reaction. There are some pets that develop allergies against vaccines and they can no longer be vaccinated - your dog may be one of them.

Can a vaccine for rabies fight another disease such as distemper?

No. Rabies vaccine is just that-a vaccine for rabies. To protect your dog against distemper, parvo and other diseases the dog must also be vaccinated agaist those. Frequently these are given in a combination shot,so your dog only has to get poked once to be protected from up to 7 diseases. Rabies vaccine, however,is always just for rabies.

Well, The it is a rare possibility but for that you need to get the dog vaccinated every year with anti rabies. Its like a booster for every year, so if you are maintaining the booster there will be a marginal percentage for rabies in the Dog and your Dog will be protected. Can dog shots be used on cats?

In general, no. Vaccinations (shots) are species specific both because the diseases vaccinated against for dogs don't affect cats and also because vaccines designed for one species are typically not tested for safety in other species. The only vaccine routinely used on multiple species is rabies vaccine and even then it needs to be approved for use in any species to be vaccinated with it.

Will a dog get sick if he has 2 rabies shots within a year?

No he should not, as it is a very safe and killed vaccine. He could probably be vaccinated for Rabies many many times in one year and have no reaction. Don't worry, better to be safe and know he has his Rabies vaccine than not.
