Vaccinations (shots) are species specific both because the diseases vaccinated against for dogs don't affect cats and also because vaccines designed for one species are typically not tested for safety in other species. The only vaccine routinely used on multiple species is rabies vaccine and even then it needs to be approved for use in any species to be vaccinated with it.
