The appropriate program is the one that leads to your overall career goals an objectives. If you do have have anything specific, then you really need to acquire a vision; A clearly articulated picture of the future you intend to create for yourself. It should be one you have a passion for; A love for what you want to do and with an understanding of the benefit it will bring to others as well as yourself. Without a clear and specific vision and a method to reach that vision, you will just be floundering. First comes the vision, then comes the mission (the tactics you will implement to achieve that goal. It is a call to action with specific short-term goals and objectives that will lead to your overall career goal).

It is really not a case of appropriateness, but rather one that is based on your career goals. Some individuals may have a Bachelor's of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, and then take a Masters in Business Administration. Some may have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and take a Masters in Education. What really matters is your passion for a program of study particular to your specific needs, wants, and desires. If your interest is in enhancing your skills within communications, then look into a Masters that fulfills that need. If your current interest is moving you in a different direction, then you need to research that field, use your critical thinking skills and investigate the pros and cons of pursing such a field. Are masters degrees better than Ph.Ds?

The masters degree is advance study after completion of the bachelors degree. The PhD is the highest level of academic achievement, that typically follows a masters - although there are a few that can be pursued directly after completion of the bachelors. Still, it is not so much that one is better than the other. The better degree is the one that leads you to your personal career goals and objectives.

There is absolutely no benefit right out of college for your first job. The masters degree will benefit you later down the line in the 3rd, possibly second job......It is recommended that communications majors enter the market after the bachelors to get experience, and slowly work on masters. Many companies have tuition reimbursement as well which is another reason to go ahead and join the work force.
