I found that the first time I put a door Knob on I put itdirectly between the hinges on the hinge side of the door, well after riping 7 doors of the jambs, my 3 year old son who didn't get a birthday present because I had to keep buying new doors and door jambs suggested that the further the knob was across from the hinge the easier the door would be to open as a result of leverage so I put the door knob on the other side of the door just to see if it would work any better well lo and behold it did.
