No. Most cars that pass through the gateways along the US-Mexico border have strict security measures, especially since 9/11. At the very least, they have to pass through X-Ray machines that would quickly reveal them, even if they are hidden in secret compartments.
Most illegal immigrants reach the US by crossing the Sonoran desert or the Rio Grande River, in remote locations with poor Border Patrol presence.
