Yes. But like everything, it's relative. There is no income tax (yet) and until a few years ago no sales tax. Now there is a 10% sales tax at most restruants. All government icome is derived from a 30% import duty. This means that everthing purchsed has been increased 30% due to this duty. But also, there is the freight and in recent years asignificant increase in the charge for "stevedoring" (offloadiing freighters) making most goods 2-3 times more expensive. Power is generated on the island of Providenciales and costs 3 to 5 times more than in the states. The price varies depending on the cost of fuel. Water is available from a. rain, or b. the water company. The water company uses reverse osmosis to purify sea-water and of course, it's expensive. Gasoline prices are comparable to Europe - $3.50-$5. On the other hand, the beach and the sun and the ocean are free. //JG
