yes it is free, and fun make a profile first on main menu click Multiplayer then go to internet (u need connection to the internet) making a game is more difficult then click refresh then join a game with free space e.g. 16/16 is full , 12/16 is not ! usually the game at the top of the list will run the best ( less ping) and then have fun !

That depends. Many servers have their own ip address. Some servers work on hamachi, which has a totally different type of ip address. Each Minecraft server ip is different, but you can find different servers on any website or make your own with port forwarding or hamachi. For general multiplayer servers just type in 'Minecraft Multiplayer servers' and you should come up with many websites with tons of good servers to try out! Happy Playing! ;)

yes the competitive multiplayer of Gears of War 3 will have dedicated servers in the final release. They also had them online during the Multiplayer beta back in April/May.
