Let's put yourself in this situation.You are competing in the school's 3-mile run and you want to do a great job.If you can, stretch beforehand. You just competed in the school's 3-mile run and you did a great job but your muscles are a bit sore.Stretch them but not beyond comfort. If you stretch them too much, it will not heal just get worse. Don't think about trying to stretch until the pain is gone. You won't feel or realize it, but it'll heal half as fast!

there is no problem with working sore muscles it may not feel to good. but you just have to be aware of your body and make sure the muscle does not slip from being sore to causing physical pain
