Yes of cource totally, oh ya rock on! It all depends on how good you want to be at either. If you have more fun at bass, naturally it will be easier; less boredom. Jack Bruce from Cream played cello and was a good enough cellist in school, but his teacher told him he'd never make it. He started playing bass and man, he turned out to be the best! Maybe his teacher didn't have the right tact. It can't be easy playing when your teacher is so critical. But he still played his classical instrument on his rock albums. The small parts he has played on the albums with the cello are great, and it took him this long to get that good. Listen to "As You Said" on Wheels Of Fire; it sounds good. Was it easier to pick up cello than bass? Different circumstances, that's all. Get somebody to help you who can inspire, or get inspiration to learn yourself, and, ROCK ON!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:p

In general, the bass is easier to learn how to play, as one only needs to play a single note while the guitarist usually will be playing a full chord. However, the difficulty of an instrument ultimately depends on what level of skill you're hoping to achieve. If you're wanting to play songs with simple arrangements such as Blink 182 or Green Day, bass will be easier than guitar. If you're wanting to play more difficult arrangements such as those from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, jazz groups, etc., the bass lines will likely be just as difficult as the guitar parts or perhaps even more difficult.

One thing to also think about is that more people play guitar than bass, so if you want to have a more "in-demand" presence in a music scene, bass might be the way to go.

It is, Learning any new instrument is challenging at first. Work on the four and then five string and when you have mastered them, move onto the six.

Why are your bass strings hard?

the bass strings have to be thicker than guitar strings because a string needs to be thicker to accomodate more bass. This could make it seem like theyre "hard"

How do you hammer on a string?

Yes, in guitar there is such thing as a hammer-on in which you press your finger hard on the guitar string to make noise without actually picking the string.

Is it harder to learn on an acoustic guitar?

I think it doesn't matter if you learn on an acoustic guitar or an electric guitar. One thing to know is that steel strings are hard on your fingers until the ends of your fingers start to toughen up, so sometimes it is an advantage to start off learning on a nylon string acoustic guitar. But it doesn't really matter, use what ever guitar you have but it is hard at the start and you need to persevere.

How do you make a loud sound on a guitar?

The volume of the guitar determines on how hard the string is strummed, how much room it has to echo, and the environment the guitar is being played in. The loudest sound from a guitar will come when the string is strummed hard, allowed to ring freely with no other contact, and is played in a large, open room.

Bass or acoustic guitar?

If you want to play like around a campfire or around home or whatever, take up acoustic. If you want to play in a band or something, learn bass. So many people play electric or acoustic now that bass players are somewhat hard to find.

What is the difference between four and five string bass guitars?

Bass Guitars A four string bass has an open string arrangement consisting of E, A , D , and G (from thickest to thinnest). This is the standard bass arrangement. The five string bass also has the E, A, D, and G arrangement, but adds an extra low B string above the E. This allows for a broader reach in note pitch since you are allowed for extra notes with the B string. For instance, on a standard four string bass you would have to tune down the E string two frets to get the dropped D pitch. But with a five string bass, there is no need to tune your E string since the D can be played on the third fret of the newly added fifth string (the B string). This lower B is especially popular with the modern hard rock/thrash metal crowd, and some of the screamo bands. For many players, there is a struggle with the low-b being "sloppy", which can largely be corrected by using a longer scale neck (35" at a minimum) and/or a different brand or gauge of strings Standard four string bass: E A D G Five string bass: B E A D G Six string bass: B E A D G C NB: you can also, if you wish, instead of using the extra string for a low B, you can retune the first four strings into standard tuning, I.e, E-A-D-G, and have the highest string as a high C. This arrangement is used quite frequently by bassists who prefer tighter strings, and an extra range up high, as well as getting a deeper, more bass-y sound from the thicker E string.
