They both use the same fingerings, and you might have to change you mouth position a little. I think it is not hard. I've done it and it just takes some getting used to. Make sure you've got enough support though. It takes a lot more air than the Clarinet does. its hard switching after playing the soprano clarinet for a long time. You also use more air playing the Bass Clarinet.

As far as switching instruments goes, it's fairly easy. You will have more breath support once you switch, as well the fingering is basically the same. However, reading the notes will probably be challenging for the first few weeks because piccolo clarinets are not in the Bb key.

Probably. The Bb clarinet is way different than the Flute. However, you already know how to read the treble clef, and most of the notes in the upper register of the clarinet are fingered the same on flute and clarinet.

The main difficulty will be learning to produce a good sound with the very different mouthpiece and reed. Next will be learning the lower register. You'll recognize many of the fingerings, but they'll be associated with different notes.

The good news is that, once you can play both flute and clarinet, the sax will be a snap. You'll be a reed man (reed girl?) in no time.

The easiest part is learning the notes and how a Trumpet and Clarinet's notes are different from other instruments in the band. Besides that, it's pretty much like starting a new instrument. For some people, it's harder, and for some, it's easier. I'd say that if you learned the trumpet pretty easy, it's going to be easy to start the clarinet.

To learn how to play bass clarinet after playing the Bb clarinet, is very much achievable. Since all clarinets use one of the two clarinet key systems, the fingerings are essentially the same. But the had part about switching is the size. Being a larger instrument, it needs much more air to make a sound, and the keys are much larger, and the bass clarinet has one more key than the Bb clarinet, use to hit a lower note than usual. Other than that, you'll have no problem switching between the two. I myself was considering it, but it was discouraged by my music teacher because I already was a very valuable clarinet player, and Quote "would be a shame if we lost you". Keep that in mind also.

There are a lot more clarinet players than Oboe players. Traditionally it has been far easier for an oboe player to get a college scholarship than other woodwind players with the exception of other than bassoon players. Normally if someone can play the bassoon, he can play the oboe.

Each individual is different in what is easy for one may be difficult for another. The average person finds the oboe harder to play than the clarinet, otherwise, scholarships would not be going to oboe players.

I would suggest maybe taking lessons for a while to get used to it, but all in all, it's not that hard of a switch.

They're both wind and reed instruments, and the have a smilar layout (it depends on whether the holes on your bass clarinet are opened) but the range and tone of the two instruments are a bit different. The bass clarinet has a lower and more deep tone, while the Saxophone has a higher pitched, more brass-y sound.

The Bass Clarinet is probably easier to play than the regular Clarinet but, the Bass can be hard on you if you don't have enough air to play the lower notes.

First of all, be sure it is a clarinet ligature, not for Saxophone or bass/alto/E-flat soprano clarinet. Then, go to your local music store, band director and get a new one.
