Addiction (to some substances) and self-destructive behaviors only lead to either healing, or death. If the practice can only lead to the latter, than it is loving to convince the person to seek professional help. If they refuse, blocking will likely not work, but IF you can ultimately stop the self destructive behavior, than the end justifies the means, meaning no, it is NOT hateful.
