Technically it is not illegal. They can sell anything they want as long as they properly disclose known defects. Some states have lemon laws which allow for additional buyer protection.
No it is not illegal. It is recommended that you inspect a car before you buy.
that's not good and very unsafe. get a new frame or tray welding braces to it.( thick metal)
If the frame rails are rusting that bad the van might be unsafe to drive. You should have it checked by a qualified mechanic.
Cut and weld a splice from a donor frame or fabricate a piece to weld in.
The best would be to replace the whole frame with an aluminium frame, may be expensive but the frame will most probably outlive the building!!!!
They can sell you anything. You can also sue them for a refund, but you will have to prove they knew about the bent or rusted frame.
The decrepit bicycle had a rusted frame and worn, patched tires.
No. Absolutely not. Not only is it unsafe, but it's illegal, and you will get put OOS if a motor carrier enforcement officer sees it during a DOT inspection. Those frame rails are heat treated, and are NOT meant to be torch cut or welded.
With a welder, fabrication and some Patience.
Rusted frame bolts on a 1990 Le Sabre can be hard to remove. Penetration oils, an impact hammer, and even a cutting torch mat be needed. Take care when using a torch that fluids or grease does not catch fire.
yes if the structural integrity is compromised like the frame being rusted out as an example
if your 1911 frame does not show a serial number then someone removed it and in so doing made the frame illegal. ATF regs require firearms to have serial number and if that serial # was removed the frame is the considered illegal to posses. however, the parts are NOT illegal and may be used to build another 1911 using another frame.
